A New Day...
I am grateful for a peaceful day, looking forward with hope for an even brighter day for our children and for each of us. "Yes we can"...if we do it together!
Cancer will change your life, let it, you might like the new you better anyway.
Thank you for being here
I'm writing this to share my journey with my family and friends. I know I can't call each of you every day even though I'd love to. Hopefully this will be a good way to keep everyone updated.
Background
In early June 2007 I went to see a new doctor for my yearly exam. My mom recommended I ask for a base line mammogram because of family history. On June 27th I went in for my mammogram. While I was there I saw a notice on the wall letting patients know that if this was their first mammogram they shouldn't be surprised if they received a letter asking them to come back as sometimes they did not get good photos on the base line. On July 7th I received such a letter. I had a moment where I thought and cried, "what if there is something?" I called first thing Monday and made an appointment for Friday. When I called I was told they wanted to look at both breasts again, so I told myself they just didn't get good pictures. Friday the 13th of July 2007 I found out I have Breast Cancer. I had my second mammogram and then an ultra sound. The doctor came in a told me they wanted to do a biopsy. I didn't get the actual results until the following week, but the 13th was the day I knew what was later confirmed. And so began my Journey.....
I am Henry's mom, the most wonderful son in the whole world! I am so grateful to have him in my life, he is full of energy, love, life and completely silly. I have a terrific family and wonderful friends who keep me busy and keep my world fun and make me laugh.
